Matilda Lambert Launches Global Environmental Sustainability Campaign: #7ForGreen Begins Today, April 1!
–
As the world continues to grapple with environmental challenges, Nigerian actress, filmmaker, and passionate environmentalist Matilda Gogo Lambert is taking bold action through her non-profit, Tilda Goes Green Foundation. In celebration of her upcoming birthday on April 13, she is launching #7ForGreen, a seven-day global environmental sustainability challenge dedicated to inspiring individuals, communities, and organizations to embrace eco-friendly practices.
A Call to Action for a Greener Future
From April 1 to 7, 2025, the #7ForGreen challenge will serve as a platform for people around the world to commit to simple yet impactful actions that promote environmental conservation. Participants are encouraged to engage in meaningful activities such as planting trees, reducing plastic waste, conserving water, advocating for climate policies, and sharing their sustainable practices online using the hashtags #7ForGreen and #TildaGoesGreen. “As I approach my birthday, I want to celebrate in a way that gives back to the planet,” Lambert shared. “The #7ForGreen Challenge is an invitation to people everywhere to take small actions that collectively create a massive impact, paving the way for a greener and more sustainable future.”
A Legacy of Environmental Advocacy
Since its inception in 2018, the Tilda Goes Green Foundation has remained at the forefront of environmental sustainability efforts, particularly in Nigeria’s Niger Delta region. Through eco-education programs, advocacy, and scholarships for underprivileged students, the foundation works to combat environmental degradation and promote responsible climate action.
With the #7ForGreen initiative, Lambert seeks to mobilize a global movement towards sustainability, fostering a culture of environmental responsibility and inspiring lasting, positive change for our planet.
Harnessing the Power of Film for Change
Beyond her contributions to environmental advocacy, Lambert has made a name for herself in the film industry as both an actress and filmmaker. She established Matilda Lambert Productions in 2016, three years after her acting debut, with a vision to produce compelling narratives that reflect societal issues.
Her debut production, Deepest Cut, explores themes of love, betrayal, leadership, and the struggles of internally displaced persons (IDPs) amid the Boko Haram crisis. Available on Amazon Prime, the film underscores Lambert’s commitment to storytelling that sparks conversations and drives change.
“I believe storytelling should mirror our realities and inspire action. My transition into filmmaking was a natural progression—giving me creative control over narratives that resonate deeply and influence society positively,” she explained.
In alignment with her foundation’s mission, Lambert has also integrated filmmaking into her environmental initiatives. Her short film Black Creeks, created as an entry for UNEP’s Ecosystem Restoration 2023 project at the Bele-Kiri fishing settlement in Rivers State, highlights critical environmental challenges and the urgent need for restoration efforts.
“Film is a powerful tool for storytelling and advocacy,” Lambert emphasized. “I intend to incorporate more film projects into the foundation’s work to raise awareness and inspire global action for environmental protection.”
